CANDÁS SARDINES

LA SARDINA DE CANDÁS

CANDÁS SARDINES

The taste of the villa

Both on 1 August and throughout the year, Candás is the villa par excellence to enjoy the best sardines on the iron side of the region.

Blue fish

Sardine is a blue fish, such as anchovy, bonito, tuna, horse mackerel, parrocha or xarda. Blue fish are less sedentary than white fish, hence their greater need for fat, and nothing close to the surface. It is advisable to include it in the diet at least twice or three times a week because of its omega-3 fatty acid content.

Its full season is summer, when the sardines are most tasty.

A recipe: garden sardines

Ingredients (for 2 persons): 10 sardines, olive oil, garlic and chilli peppers.

Preparation: clean sardines, without heads and guts, with fine chopped garlic and chilli, are placed in a mud pot. In a pan, plenty of oil is heated until it is moistened, poured on the sardines and cooked on fire until the garlic becomes coloured. They are served at the event.
