The Carreño Tourist Information Office is located in the seaman’s town, in the middle of Candás, specifically in the lower part of Plaza de La Baragaña.

Our Tourist Information Office (ILO) is certified with ‘Quality with a smile’, a plan designed by the Directorate-General for Tourism of the Principality of Asturias to make it a destination of tourist excellence and with which it starts working in Carreño at the end of 2005.

This plan includes aspects relating not only to the service provided but also to the facilities, equipment, technical resources and professional training of our staff.

We are currently continuing to work to improve our service, and we have completed the renewal of the quality procedure that allows us to obtain the ‘Tourism Quality Commitment’ certification of the Integrated Destination Tourism Quality System (SICTED). The Tourism Quality Pledge is renewed until October 2022 for the ILO and until April 2023 for the Aljibe. This is one of the most ambitious projects under the Spanish Comprehensive Plan for Tourism Quality (PICTE) and responds to the need to equip tourist destinations with mechanisms to integrate and target actions under a common objective, thereby consolidating individual efforts at sub-sectoral level.

This project complements other work streams, such as the aforementioned Plans of Excellence and Revitalisation, and involves a new approach to the implementation of the Spanish Tourism Quality System, characterised by coordinated destination management, joint cross-sector application of quality parameters and the inclusion in this project of sub-sectors that are not necessarily tourism but are related to the quality of the destination.
