The municipality of Carreño was the summer residence of the writer Leopoldo Enrique García-Alas Ureña, ‘Clarín’, for almost his entire life, and therefore inspiring a considerable part of his literary production.

Carreño’s presence in the narrative of Leopoldo Alas is quite abundant. Up to 14 different works have such references: a novel, La Regenta; two unfinished novels, Palomares and Cuesta Abajo. A critical work developed with storytelling tale, the ‘Notes in a clear prose’, from A 0,50 poet. Three short novels, Ms Berta, Cuervo and El cura de Vericueto, and seven stories, ¡Adiós, ‘Cordera’! Boroña, El Quinn, Viaje Round, La trampa, snob and El hbrero del Sr. cura.

The Clariniana Route is a unique literary and tourist experience in Spain.

For the first time, the narrative is immersed in the landscape, in the scene where the facts occur.

There are three types of works and therefore three so-called sections: Ms Berta, Viaje Redondo and Buroña, where Clarín shows us the socio-economic fabric and architecture of the Carreño valleys, this rural world that she knew so well.

These living scenes are scattered by unique and unique elements, such as Roman churches, Indians’ houses, Carreño style honeycombs, Clarin Fifth, Casonas, palaces, medieval remains, mills, fountains, caseries, etc., which can be observed on the four routes described below.

In this case, we will travel along the route of Ms Berta.
