Boteros neighbourhood
Poem of the entrance panel (J.M. García)
Wearing his mahón clothes, the boters come from his loneliness; from this pure silence without more rumours than the breeze and dirt made by the net and the sills when the fish is hauled. Deep-rooted fish, with pigeon heads, Arcangel wings, alacran bones and sirene bodies... all coloured.
Boteros
Botero is the coastal fisher fishing near the coast.
They were usually elderly people, fishing from the boat in the vicinity of the port, to which they returned in the day. Their fishing gear was artisanal and used to be dedicated to rock fish and shellfish.
