Carreño is at the heart of the future electricity ring in Asturias. Work on the Cardoso substation is already under way, starting from the central ring of the new network.
The project, driven by the Principality, aims to strengthen the supply to industry, which consumes around 67 % of the region’s electricity. The regional government links it to Asturias’s energy autonomy and industrial future.
The next steps announced are the release for public information of the Reboria substation project and, at the end of 2026, the formalities for the infrastructure in La Asturiana.
