The Principality of Asturias has begun dredging work at the port of Candás, a maintenance operation aimed at restoring the depth necessary for the vessels to enter, leave and moor safely.
The works have an investment of EUR 410.338 and a timeframe of approximately four months. It is planned to remove approximately 18.950 cubic metres of sediment, mostly fine sands, accumulated in the inner and outer basins.
Dredging equipment shall be used in the external area. In the inner dock, where there is less space, extraction will be from the ground, which will require the temporary removal of some trousers from sports boats.
The action is part of the annual conservation programme for the 24 ports owned by the Autonomous Communities, which this year has a budget of EUR 8.46 million.
